Wellstone Conspiracy

For “Motives,” four of the Northwest’s most acclaimed jazz musicians reunite for an adventurous recording of original works. This includes a tribute to drummer Ed Blackwell and melodic pieces that are flavored with the modern harmonies by Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock. The disc ends with an impressionistic rendition of Billy Strayhorn’s “A Flower is a Lovesome thing.” Wellstone Conspiracy features Seattleites Bill Anschell, Jeff Johnson, John Bishop, and Brent Jensen, an Idaho-based saxophonist. They continue to improve the collective artistry that they displayed on “One More Mile”, their debut CD (2006) (under Brent Jensen’s name). A cohesive group sound was described by John Barron, All About Jazz reviewer, as “…lively and inventive, and invites repeated listening. from http://www.origin-records.com
