Winston Walls

Winston Walls, an organist with a long career of over 30 year’s experience, didn’t record his first session in the role of leader until 1993. Walls, a Charleston native, was born to Harry Van Walls, Big Joe Turner’s longtime piano player. He studied drums and piano as a teenager and that was what got him his first job with Bill Doggett. Walls would occasionally fill in for Doggett at the organ during leader’s breaks. His career took off from there. He went on to play with many artists, including Lou Donaldson and Ike.
