Yiotis Kiourtsoglou

Yiotis Kiourtsoglou, was born in Kozani in Greece in 1965. He studied electrical engineering at Thessalonica’s State Technological Institute, and Jazz theory at the Synchronon music school. He continued his music education by learning electric bass at the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles (1987-1989). He was nominated for the MI scholarship award, the nomination for best player and the most improved student award. Garry Willis was a student of Bob Magnuson and Jeff Berlin. He was a recording artist and made many albums with Electric Jazz Trio (with Manny Boyd, Danny Hayes), Exit and Iasis, Tilman ambient rhythm, Lauenen, and Human Touch. He is also a founding member of all of these. He was also a guest artist with Marcos Alexiou, Takis Barteris, and David Lynch. He has performed in Greece and Cyprus, USA, Honk Kong and Switzerland, Germany and Spain. He worked with many artists including John Stubblefield and Billy Hart. Kiourtsoglou writes music for theater, film, and dance productions, as well as his Jazz group, Human Touch. He is currently an instructor at Nakas conservatory, Athens. The Human Touch Trio, which included Yiotis Kiourtsoglou and David Lynch, released their first album, Human Touch, 1998. Libra Music released their second album, Movin’ on January 2004. Libra Music released HAPOPSIS on January 4, 2005. It was Yiotis’s first personal album.
