Yves Rousseau

Yves Rousseau hears Pierre Michelot, Patrice Caratini and discovers the double-bass. Between 1982 and 1987, he studied the instrument at the CNR in Versailles with Jacques Cazauran. He gains a variety of experience with chamber and symphony orchestras, and occasionally ventures into contemporary, baroque and electro-acoustic musical styles. He also enrols in “Centre d’Informations Musicales” to learn the basics of jazz. He meets Jean-Francois Jenny Clark in 1984, at the Ensemble franco–allemand de Jazz » (Franco/German Jazz Ensemble). This encounter leads to a profound change in his musical perception. Between 1990 and 1993, he co-directs the same group with Albert Mangelsdorff. In 2000, he founded his 4tet with Jean-Marc Larche and Regis Huby. With them, he releases 3 albums: Fees et Gestes with CC Productions / Harmonia Mundi in the same year. He also records Choc Jazzman, Sarsara, and Akasha on Abalone/L’Autre Distribution in 2015. These albums were selected by Citizen Jazz and Choc JazzMag. He is used to conducting artistic residencies at many different organizations, including Jazz sous les Pommiers and the Enghien Arts Centre.
