Zyklus was founded by John L. Walters in 1988. It was created by Neil Ardley with the goal of exploring the boundaries between composition and improvisation. The Zyklus Orchestra is an electronic jazz orchestra that produces both semi-improvised and composed music. It also inspires improvising soloists. Zyklus Midi Performance System is an incredible machine that allows a performer up to four samplers or synthesizers at once. This makes it possible and the group’s name is after it. Warren Greveson, Walters and Ardley handle three MPS machines. Ian Carr is the improvising soleist. From www.neilardley.com
